Mock Audition Guidelines
Auditioning - even mock auditioning - can be stressful. That’s why we’ve put together this helpful guide for how to get the most out of your mock audition! We hope you find this experience helpful and you enjoy your time!
General Guidelines
- Dress appropriately: wear clothes that are neat, simple, and (if necessary) easy to move in. Don’t wear anything too fancy - it’s important to remember that you, not your clothes, are the star here.
- Be on time: because each individual has a limited amount of time, we ask that you are ready to go when your slot is scheduled. Please arrive 15 minutes early so that you have plenty of time and don’t feel rushed.
- No guests are allowed in the theatre while others are performing; please try to keep the sound levels to a minimum in the lobby while checking in and waiting your turn.
- Introduce yourself: When you get on stage, tell us who you are and which piece you have prepared.
- Please bring 6 headshots/resumes for distribution to the directors.
- Be as prepared as possible: make sure you’ve memorized your monologue and are ready to go. It’s okay to be nervous! That’s all part of the process.
- Smile and be supportive of your peers! You’re all here for a learning experience, and who knows - networking in this group may get you a role in the future.
When Receiving Feedback
- Take in everything the directors offer. They’re here to help you refine your process and give you tips for how to succeed.
- Directors will fill out evaluation forms, which will be passed along after your performance. Unfortunately, due to the tight turnaround, we do not have the opportunity for direct discussion with the directors at this time.
- Please be respectful of others’ time and try not to go over your allotted slot - we want to be sure we see everyone!
- If you choose to stay after your mock audition, please practice respectful audience etiquette.
